MONIQUE LHUILLIER: SS15 Collection Review, NYFW
Monique Lhuillier’s SS15 collection starts out simple and sweet with typically girly silhouettes, but come look 5 or 6 I’m taken aback.
The collection grows and ages into something altogether more elegant. Heavy weight satin’s become ultra cool in Lhuilliers own version of board shorts and iridescent organza’s illuminate the runway with streaks of blue and lavender.
Metallic pinks and icy blue are gathered and quilted to give as much play on light as possible and shapes morph subtly from the sugary sweet prom dresses of the first set of looks to a more sophisticated and influential style, and before you know it, it’s all out evening gowns.
Twitter has already been stormed with users calling the collection dreamy and whimsical, which it most certainly is. The iridescent flowers that fell from the sky certainly gave that effect, and the tulle skirts that caught them like freaking butterfly nets?! Also a nice touch. And if you’ve been following the progress of NYFW on instagram, you’ve probably seen the late night pics of last minute prep for the show. All so worth it, indeed a frightening lovely fair.
